This site includes two Captchas that form a deliverable as part of my dissertation at Sheffield Hallam University.
A Captcha is basically a test to identify if the user is a valid human user or a computer script, also known as a Bot. This is important as the Bot could be used for malicious purposes such as signing up to thousands of e-mail accounts with the intention of sending spam or similar tasks.
This site is meant to be purely functional so please excuse its simplicity.
Limpy is a version of the basic type of Captcha that you may come across on the internet. The name 'Limpy' is derived from the the original 'Gimpy' Captcha created by Carnegie Mellon University.
Snap is a drastically different form of Captcha that attepts to address various problems that the standard version creates such as accessibility issues for users with visual impairments. The idea is simple, answer the question by selecting the appropriate images.
Please try these out and any feedback (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
